Housebreaking Your Puppy

Start by establishing a routine for feeding and potty breaks. Use positive reinforcement when your puppy goes outside. Be patient and consistent to help them learn.

Supervise your puppy closely indoors to catch any accidents. Clean up accidents with an enzymatic cleaner to remove odors and prevent repeat incidents.

Create a designated potty area outside and take your puppy there frequently, especially after meals and naps. Praise and reward them for going potty outside.

Use crate training as a tool for housebreaking. Dogs naturally avoid soiling their sleeping area, so a crate can help teach bladder control. Never use the crate for punishment.

Understand that accidents will happen during the housebreaking process. Stay calm and avoid scolding your puppy for mistakes. Consistency and positive reinforcement are key.

Monitor your puppy's progress and adjust your routine as needed. Celebrate successes and continue training to reinforce good habits. Housebreaking takes time and patience.
